Probably a good place to mention that now when your Mac or iPhone does a software update it activates "Apple Intelligence" without telling you, even if you've turned it off before. Check your settings.
Thank you, Caitlin, for expressing quite eloquently what so many of us are feeling these days. As a small but I hope telling gesture against the Zeitgeist, I have made "Old Google" -- the original search service without ads or AI -- my default search engine. The procedure is quite simple, and can be found easily online. Up with the resistance!
I feel the same way and I never got the fixation with speaking too devices instead of touching buttons. The weird thing is old people love it even if it works terribly. I guess it seems more intuitive to them and also it's what they did on Star Trek?
I have never once interacted with one of these things, voluntarily or involuntarily. I have the exact same opinion Caitlin does about these things but for now at least it still seems not that hard to avoid them

I always felt that way about Alexa and Siri - and like you argue, now it's way worse with the intrusion on other platforms.....

What about BOB though?
