Talking to Will Menaker About the Left, Our COVID Future, and 'Friday Night Lights'
Today in our 'What Now' newsletter.
Welcome back to What Now! I’m Katherine Krueger, your host this week. Over the weekend I chatted with Will Menaker, perhaps best known to you as the co-host of Chapo Trap House but best known to me as the person I love and cohabitate with. You have no choice but to believe me when I say wow, this was a tough get! But it gave us the excuse to talk ON THE RECORD about a bunch of things that had been swirling around my head without even having to log onto Zoom or pay a $200 copay. I hope you enjoy!
Will, hello! This was an incredibly difficult interview to secure, so thank you in advance for your time!
I’ve got 10 mins, let’s make this quick. (laughs)
Let’s start with what everyone most wants to know: What are your Friday Night Lights power rankings?
In terms of the players?
Interpret it however you wish.
In the number one spot, it’s got to be tender-hearted soul Matt Saracen. He has a lot of hardships in his life that he has to overcome, like an asshole dad who would rather go to Iraq than one of his football games. He's a student of the game, and his heart is so full, and therefore he cannot lose.
Power rating number two, it's got to be my boy Tim Riggins. His hair is wet all the time and everyone knows he’s a hunk. He likes a beer but he gets it done on the field.
Controversial pick: Jesse Plemons coming in at number three. No, he’s not on the team, but he taught Tim Riggins how to read and that he does have things in his life he can relate to Of Mice and Men.
