This was fucking beautiful Caitlin thank you. This line in particular:
“They’re counting on us being tired, but they’re not accounting for the fact that rage is a hell of an antidote to fatigue.”
This spoke to me on a bone-deep level. The past few weeks have been exhausting, and finding the will to keep moving forward has been difficult. But as long as I keep my rage pure, I’m gonna do my best to keep up the fight.
Excellent blog as always Caitlin! If I may there’s a couple things that stood out to me as I read this. This first was that the past movements actually said abortion and as you aptly put it “without compromise or clarification. That’s what’s been missing for the last 50 years since Roe was implemented by the Burger Court. We gotta get this shit back and fast!
Which adds one thing that is imperative going forward: never and I mean never, let the political parties co-opt the movement. The minute it happens it’s dead. If an inkling of that happens be even more hostile and more radical and don’t let their hands get on something that’s the people’s.
I’m here to help any way I can and love you all knowing that we are in this together. Solidarity to all! ❤️✊
Defector wrote about Mike Davis, and I now have a bone-deep urge to read him (and you quoted him here!). Discourse has just given me the same bone-deep need to read Eugene Debs.
It also remains the case that no more than 30% of the country actually wants this. Only 10% want abortion banned in all cases. The right to have an abortion in at least some cases unites all but the extremists (and this is with 50 years of assuming it was settled law and one’s fundamental rights to privacy were not threatened). I suspect the numbers will only rise when people start realizing this means with 1/50 pregnancies ectopic YOU WILL DIE 2% of all pregnancies without abortion rights.
If only there was a political movement capital of capitalizing on this…….
And...I'm crying again. This is so well said and inspiring. Thank you, Caitlin.

I'm sure there's a DSA chapter within driving distance, if you're close to a big city.
