This will never be over unless and until the United States ends its unconditional monetary/military support of the genocidal apartheid State of Israel. Israel's occupation of Palestine follows the template set by its Patron States of America usurpation of land upon which the indigenous peoples of an entire continent had lived for millennia. America's colonial "settlers" have been role models for Zionists, whose wholesale slaughter and land theft is the ongoing Al Nakba.

Sure, yes, great, geopolitics is a fine discussion. But maybe let's also acknowledge there is some truly heinous shit happening right now, and too many people (who did not ask for any of this by the way) are dying. I know people in my family and my community who have family and friends in Israel, and they're living a nightmare not knowing if anyone is safe. There are some horrible, horrible things happening to people and families in the areas that were attacked (I refuse to watch any of the videos, but they're out there).

Yes, Israel is mistreating Palestinians on a daily basis, but do you know how badly you have to fuck up to get literally THE ENTIRE EU on the side of Israel, even temporarily? We apparently have our answer.

The entire EU is in USA's pocket. We blow up their cheap gas pipe line from Russia spinning them into a recession and proxie a war in their back yard. So spineless lap dogs be their leaders.

I'm not saying that the EU as a whole doesn't like Israel, but that many member countries want to recognize Palestine and support Palestinians. So yes, getting the entire EU to fall on the side of Israel involves some major bullshittery.

Are you joking? When has the EU not been on the side of Israel? Don't take it from me. Take it from the EU:

"The EU is the most important donor for the Palestinian people and a reliable and predictable partner."

"The EU maintains a representative office in Ramallah, accredited to the PNA. The PLO's general delegation in Brussels, accredited to the EU, was first established as an information and liaison bureau in September 1976. Other representations are maintained in almost every European capital, many of which have been accorded full diplomatic status."

"The EU has also been highly critical of Israeli military actions in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, often referring to them as "disproportionate" and "excessive force" and calling for an immediate cease-fire. During Operation Defensive Shield, the European Parliament passed a non-binding resolution calling for economic sanctions on Israel and an arms embargo on both parties."

"In December 2014, the European Parliament voted in favour of a non-binding resolution calling for the recognition of Palestinian statehood as part of a two-state solution and alongside the development of the peace process with 498 votes in favour, 88 against and 111 abstentions. In recent years, many European parliaments including France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Ireland and the United Kingdom have passed motions calling on their governments to recognize Palestine."

I can never figure out why the Israeli government is shocked when Palestinians lash out. I mean, it sure looks like Gaza has been a de facto Polish ghetto since Israel unilaterally shut down their airport in 2001. Is repeating the tactics of Nazi Germany (yeah, I went there...) ever justified?

I mean, isn't there something about war crimes and deliberately targeting civilians? Israel has been defying UN demands for decades now. I don't get why entire nations are supporting a lawless government (I mean "lawless" in the literal sense, given Netanyahu's attempts to strip their Supreme Court of any practical authority).

And, let's face it, Netanyahu calling up 300K reservists to, in essence, level Phoenix is a bit of overkill, and I can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with trying to burnish his quite tarnished record (indictments, trying to de facto abolish the Supreme Court, et al).
