I think Jezebel has a shot. It has been down for less than a month, and according to Jackson he's going to hire back some, if not all, of the fired writers. He also said he's going to be hands-off with respect editorial decisions. We'll see, but I'm hopeful.
I loved Splinter for two particular things it did. One was posting a picture of a burning limousine, which made this reader yell "F**k yeah!" The other was a post which presented to readers Orange Skull advisor and Nazi ghoul Stephen Miller's cell phone number for, um, "educational purposes."
Somehow Mr. Jackson doesn't strike me as the type of person who will let such journalistic malcontents get away with doing that on any site he paid good money for.
