The Discourse Blog Critics' Circle Is Now In Session
Even though there's just one critic this week.
Hi there, hi there! Poor Rafi’s still got COVID (this is not a HIPAA violation, he has given his blessing for me to say this) so we have banned him from blogging. It’s a measure of the situation that he actually agreed to obey this command. Getting Rafi to stop blogging is like getting the sun to stop rising in the morning. It’s hard is what I’m saying. But he’s not well, so send him your good thoughts.
Anyway, that left a little gap in our schedule, so I am filling in! Don’t worry, I will NOT be trying to do Man, What the Hell. First, because Rafi would not like it, and second because I would be bad at it. Instead I am just going to run through some of the things I’ve seen on TV or in a movie theater or a theater theater or museum recently and then I will tell you what I thought of those things. Call it the Discourse Blog Critics’ Circle, even though there is just one critic in this edition (me). There will be more in future editions, I promise! (Because I edit this website and I will make people do it.)
I liked most of these quite a lot, so this will be a relatively “good vibes” time.
A couple of notes before I dive in. Note one: I know Cros did a TV viewing round robin earlier this week, so you’ll have to believe me when I say that I was already planning to do this blog before he wrote his! Anyway, more than of this kind of thing won’t hurt. Note two: two of the things on this list are frightfully New York-centric, which I can’t really help because that’s where I live, but sorry in advance. Note three: looking over the list, it’s oddly very French??? Not intentional.
OK, here goes! Sound off in the comments if you have any opinions of your own to share about anything you’ve seen recently.
