Private Equity is ruining not only sports, but also the real estate market, health care, the Hollywood movie industry, apartments and rentals, live shows and the tickets to those shows, the music industry, the US government and much much more...
"(What? Like the owners of your favorite sports team aren’t problematic? Shut up.)"
I grew up halfway between Baltimore and D.C., rooting for the Orioles, WFTs, Bullets/Wizards, and Capitals. You don't have to convince me about problematic sports owners.
Excellent blog Cros but as a Liverpool fan I’ve gotta gloat on our luck in getting pipped by Chelsea for Caicedo and Fernandez (who have been a mid pairing at best, dysfunctional at worst) and struck gold with second choices Mac Allister and Endo. Anyways off to go cry again that my football dad has left us.
I spent ONE YEAR working with the banking committee of the NYS cannabis business association to draft them a GOOD 20-page paper of proposed regs for Office of Cannabis Mgmt (OCM). I did so because the MRTA (the bill legalizing cannabis) contained a social/economic equity mandate wherein 50% of licenses would be granted to equity applicants. After a year of "revisions," the committee basically ghosted me, and I honestly didn't care -- they turned what I wrote into a pointless paper on all the ways in which banking and finance laws can accidentally get a cannabis business owner convicted of a felony (given banking is federal). I have no idea whether it was even used. I still have both versions of the paper if you guys want them.
The article from The City is based on 84 pages of internal docs that show how the state despicably led equity applicants down a fantasy road of false promises. TLDR, private equity trumped social justice. THE SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING!
I don't know how to edit posts but I apologize for lack of coherence and the like. But I have an excuse, which is that I'm ANGRY -- I will edit this to make it more sensical when I regain my druthers

Private equity groups destroy everything they touch.
Weekends also ruined by private equity destroying all-you-can-eat shrimp and buying toys from a giraffe mascot, amongst others.
Not to mention all of the employees let go. People, I’m thinking private equity might be…not good at all!
Always here for an "Adults in the Room" reference.
I don't think I've ever met an actual Chelsea fan IRL
this is me but for man city. i actually don't think they exist
