I mean come tf on, as Jack says the right of return on its face reveals the lie here. I’m as ‘Jew-ish’ as it fucking gets, and have spent more hours of my life in a fucking Catholic church than in temple (thanks to my Jewish dad’s insistence I attend the best school in the area which ofc was the Catholic one), and yet I could get Israeli citizenship if I cobbled together the right documents. The incoherence of these pricks’ arguments is all just subterfuge for their broader goal of Israel never having to apologize about anything ever.

And to Bowman and Jack’s broader point, I have never felt less safe as a Jew than I do now, and it’s because of what Israel is doing. An entire nation state that’s become a shanda for the goyim and just handing ammunition to every actual nazi and white nationalist who’d love to erase every Jew alongside every Palestinian.

allll of this. I am Jewish too and grew up on Long Island amongst many like us. I'm starting to think the Israel-Judaism conflation and the overall Israel propaganda of it all is not actually directed toward us. I think the actual audience is the rest of the country who doesn't want to "offend Jews" by speaking negatively about Israel. I've never felt unsafe as a Jew. my grandmother is a survivor and she never expressly or otherwise conveyed to me that she ever felt unsafe here. it's such political establishment manufactured bullshit and we are just pawns. it's why groups like IfNotNow and JVP mobilized immediately in October to get out there and try to get ahead of what we knew was coming -- "we have to stand by Israel for the Jews!" NO WE DO NOT -- I'm one Jew but I fully co-sign every word of this.

Or, as I've heard it pronounced by some of the older former locals, "Lon Gisland."

Also yes, all of this.

There's a reason I subscribe to Judd Legum's Substack (Popular Information) and not Rupar's.

Me too. Also I saw him on TV recently (Joy Ann Reid, maybe) and was disappointed his last name is pronounced LEGum, rather than leGUM like some sort of bean.

The truth is so malleable that we’ve entered full manufacturing consent territory. It’s the best time ever for political operatives and assorted rat fuckers.

I'm un subscribing from Rupar's blog🤮 That dude needs to touch grass or something.

He made a career out of watching stuff, clipping it, and uploading the clip to Xitter, mostly without comment. So, what the Daily Show does, but somehow taking himself seriously for it.

Oh and he was employed by Ezra Klein at Vox, which is another delightful tidbit.

Oh man! If there was ever a gold medal for being an apologist, Ezra Klein would certainly be a serious choice.

That he did. Yeah he comes across as incredibly arrogant. Ah, interesting🧐

Ehh the wording for the title is wacky… I’d say “Israel makes Jews look bad” is more accurate
