Amen. I am never boarding public transportation or a flight unmasked again. And my dining out has been and will be 99% outdoors / al fresco. Yell at me all you want. I am not crazy. The world is. Except Iceland. No COVID-19 here! I am not looking forward to going back to the bloodbath that is the USA next week. European nations are advising their citizens to reconsider visiting the US outside of LA and NYC.

What a week has been to decide to resume traveling to Europe (first time since April 2019). The US is in the news as a destabilized, violent shithole. When I land in London tomorrow, the masking resumes. Those are dirty people.

"outside of LA and NYC" makes absolutely zero sense to me, and I say that as someone who does exercise caution and masks appropriately

Seems to be a gentle way of saying "don't go to Texas or Florida." They have been hell for decades, but since the Uvalde massacre, I sense a change. I think America's youth is starting to revolt at the idea that some states treat human life as cheap. That FBI mass shooting survival tips video is shocking amd it reinforces the idea that the United States is becoming a failed state. They only way to fix it is to start the discussion that was unthinkable: the Second Amendment needs to go.

I mean no disagreement RE florida and texas, though having lived in southern california for 15 years, its hardly a utopia free from a shitload of violence, we had multiple white supremacist rallies in my area during and after COVID, combined with an incredibly powerful and corrupt LA country sheriff. Its all pretty grim, I think meaningful change in our issue around guns is probably one I have the lowest level of faith that things will change, even though we desperately need it to
