I think all the arguments about why this was a dumb issue are on the table. There's a great point to be made with the clap-back that Imane Khelif Is A Woman What The Hell Are You On About, that plenty of others have already made, that the widely accepted Definition Of A Woman is roundly incorrect, pretty baldly racist, and actually serves to denigrate women who don't fit that ideal. Men are CELEBRATED for their genetic advantages (e.g. Victor Wembanyama being able to do ridiculous things on the basketball court without his knees turning to putty), yet women are borderline-criminalized for theirs (Caster Semenya, Katie Ledecky, Brittney Griner, etc). Sure, it doesn't fully address the issue of trans panic, but it does make an equally important point while also calling out people for being insufferable idiots.

Gender disparities in sports apparently disappear when one uses weight classes, so as a trans person myself I say just have the big girls and smol boys compete against people their own size, irrespective of gender. This brouhaha at the Olympics only goes to show how gender-segregated sports competitions are inherently patriarchal.

My apologies for Kat Highsmith’s fetishistic rape fantasia. She’s clearly unwell.

My condolences for having to put up with the rape fantasies of transsexual fetishists like Kat Highsmith. I think it’s all the poo in the water over there causing autoandrophilic delirium…

Also, um... case in point as to why a lot of people have ditched Substack for the likes of Beehiiv and Ghost...

Molly White made a guide explaining her process migrating from Substack to Ghost:

https://www.citationneeded.news/substack-to-self-hosted-ghost/

Jonathan M. Katz, Ryan Broderick, and Rusty Foster all moved to Beehiiv instead of Ghost, but I don't remember if they documented their migrations quite as extensively as Molly White did.

Again, feel free to delete my comments trolling that person, as well!

In all seriousness, Kat Highsmith comes across like a self-loathing trans man. Like he would be a lot happier if he just transitioned.

How many times have you been arrested for inspecting people’s genitals at this point?

Clearly you want women’s bathrooms to be your own personally exclusive hunting ground.

Trans women who have undergone male puberty should probably not compete against cis women. If you believe there should be women’s sports at all, rather than categories based on weight. I do think there is a place for women’s sports because men are stronger and faster than women in most sports. Sports for girls are amazing! At elite levels I don’t see how you can argue that it’s fair for people who have gone through male puberty to compete in a women’s division. It affects lean muscle mass, bone density, density of slow-twitch vs fast twitch fibers. There are biological differences.

As a trans person, I would agree that there are biological differences in the abstract.

It’s just that those biological differences are much more complex than most people (on either side of the argument) are generally willing to admit.

Some cisgender women have unusually high testosterone. Some cisgender men have unusually high estrogen. Some cisgender people are biologically intersex and don’t discover this until well into adulthood. And some trans people delay puberty and don’t actually go through the puberty of their genders assigned at birth.

The problem we see with cases like Imane Khelif’s is that “biological sex” doesn’t fit into neat boxes, and forcing social structures to pretend otherwise ultimately ends up perpetuating racism, classism, and the patriarchy.

That said, yes, unironically, girls rock. And we should keep society from repressing the ways that girls rock in the name of conformity: masculinity should not be the default.

Everything you said. This really needs to be the shark-jumping moment for these dipshits. I know the media won’t let that happen but FFS—trying to ruin people’s lives, spewing their dumb trash on the Olympics.

It’s been so enjoyable to watch all the diversity of talent, of strength, of people being great sports across countries—the athletes supporting and cheering one another across different countries.

Why are people not tired of this yet?

"Whether intentionally or not, it sends the message that these athletes’s gender identities shouldn’t be scrutinized and debased not because doing so is flat-out wrong, but because they’re simply not trans, and therefore these beliefs don’t concern them."

This is a strong point. It's like when McCain addressed "criticism" of Obama being Arab by saying, in essence, no he's not he's a good man! As if those two things are mutually exclusive.

It's also something I overlooked in so far as I'm too narrowly focused on the facts of the matter (Khelif isn't, in fact, trans) and I miss the bigger picture as a result. Thank you for keeping the focus broad.

To use an adjective in front of sustainable, is wrong on every level. Sustainable, unique, pregnant, all the same. You can’t be almost or any other thing, but the definition of the word. You’re pregnant or you’re not. You’re sustainable or you’re not. Something is unique, or it’s not.

Just saying
