It's interesting how Big Alcohol pushing responsibility onto individuals is a relevant allegory to most of the negatives wrought by large corporations or market segments. Lung cancer from cigarettes? Chew some gum and quit! Climate change-caused tornadoes wreaking havoc on the Midwest? Set your thermostat a couple degrees higher! Rampant deforestation threatening thousands of necessary species? Plant some flowers in your backyard so the butterflies have a place to land!
I thought government was supposed to be adversarial to CORPORATIONS, not to us.
Yeah totally. I will say that the government *did* act eventually in the case of cigarettes... which seems basically unfathomable in today's political environment, right?
