I live in Malta whence falcons do not come, except in the dreams of some...(this is not mere doggerel, I really do live in Malta). To ponder the avian logic of the pigeons' circular close formation flight patterns is a source of wonder.

From my aerie atop a 500 year old edifice, I have a bird'seye view (you should pardon),. My little setback in the sky is regularly visited by a most beautiful mourning dove that I've named "Billie" after the sublime silent film star, Billie Dove.

She's fearless and doesn't take fight at my approach,. Although I've offered neither food nor marriage a la Nikola Tesla...yet...I think she's interested.

Not many pigeons on cape cod. Can't say ad I miss them. Have morning doves. Fisher crows that night on the vineyard than every morning fly on-mass to main land cape.

..kinda kool. Oh lots and lots of osprey that nest here every summer and dive for fish...also cool. But alas not many pigeons. Why is that.

In Bushwick, there are a number of rooftop coops full of pet pigeons. It is not an uncommon sight to see the different flocks circling over their buildings.
