Thank you for bringing attention to this issue. I love PEN America’s tracking of this issue on their site!

In the realm of prison reform, I recently wrote about the DOJ’s human rights violations investigation in Georgia - it’s horrific. More attention should be paid to the needs of those incarcerated!

It's awful how institutions use 'security' as an excuse to deprive incarcerated people of crucial resources like books. Thanks for sharing about these valuable initiatives!

I’d like to say that one should look at all this in context and understand that perhaps there is some logic to why certain demographics should be kept from certain info-streams, but everything is arbitrary in the sense that there are no core values in play in these discussions and prisons, while there may be some argument for the necessity of isolation of social “deviants” to some degree, pretty much exist for the sake of capital.

I do, in principle, believe that all information should be available to all-though I acknowledge that all are not cognitively able to process this information and some sort of filter/regulator is necessary I do not presently have a good answer for how we should regulate information in this (or any) context.
